Aperture and Shutter Speed Practice

  • F4  – looks the best at  1/125 of a second shutter speed.
  • F5.6 – looks the best at  1/60 of a second shutter speed.
  • F8  – looks the best at 1/30 of a second shutter speed.
  • F11  – looks the best at 1/60 of a second shutter speed.
  • F16  – looks the best at  1/30 of a second shutter speed.
  • F22  – looks the best at  1/8 of a second shutter speed.

  • At F4 how much background is visible? not visible its blurry.
  • At F5.6how much background is visible? Background is still not visible its blurry.
  • At F8 how much background is visible? background is a little more visible but still blurry.
  • At F11 how much background is visible? the background is visible but still a little blurry.
  • At F16 how much background is visible? The background is visible and it still a little blurry but less than before.
  • At F22 how much background is visible? The background is now visible and in focus.

  • 1. Consider what is happening to the people themselves at slow Shutter Speeds.
At slow shutter speeds the people are becoming more blurry and the picture is becoming brighter.

    2. In a real shooting situation, what should the photographer do to lessen this problem?
    raise the shutter speed

    3. What combination of aperture and shutter speed do you think produces the best portrait? Why?
i think the best portrait is at f/5.6 1/125 because the picture looks clear, focused and the background is blurred which gives it the depth of field.
